Poor weather forced the STLCC women's soccer team to move the Region XVI Championship match from Sunday, October 27 to Tuesday, October 29. It was worth the wait, as the Archers defeated Metropolitan CC 3-0 to claim the title. In Tuesday's match, Sydney Adamec got the Archers off to a fast start with a goal at 10:00 from Isabella Lundberg and Maria Jose Gomez. At 33:00, Isabella Lundberg found the back of the net to make the score 2-0. STLCC was able to fend off multiple attacks by MCC in the second half, before Makayla Duncan scored to give her team a three goal cushion and the Archers were able to hold on for a 3-0 win. Kelly Cates made eight saves to record a shutout in net.
With the win, STLCC not only claimed the Region XVI Championship, but also earned the right to host the Central District Championship on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8. The Central District Championship will feaure STLCC, Metropolitan CC, the winner of Region VII, and the winner of Region XXVI. More information regarding the Central District Tournmaent will be released when it becomes available. The Archers are now 13-4 on the season.
