The STLCC women's basketball team came away with a big 82-81 win over MCCAC opponent Jefferson College on Wednesday, December 4. In Wednesday's game, the Archers outscored the visiting Vikings in the first two quarters to take a 42-31 lead into the half. Jefferson College bounced back in the second half to tie the game at 75 when regulation ended, sending the game to overtime. In overtime, STLCC struggled to score early and found themselves trailing by a score of 80-81. With five seconds remaining, the Archers inbounded the ball to Ronne'zja Elliott, who took the ball the length of the court and found the bottom of the net for the buzzer beating win.
In Wednesday's win, Ronne'zja Elliott and Janet Garrett led the Archers in scoring with 23 points each. Elliott also led the team with six assists. Kierra Winkeler chipped in with 20 points of her own and Madalyn Collier hauled in 10 rebounds to lead the team.
With Wednesday's win, STLCC improved to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in MCCAC play. The Archers will be back in action when they travel to Missouri Baptist University on Saturday, December 7 to take on Missouri Baptist University JV at 11:00am.
