Opening round games in a national tournament sometimes lead to a shaky first quarter as teams get into the flow of the game, but not for the Lady Archers on Tuesday morning in Harrison, AR. Chrishana Wilson made sure that was not an issue for St. Louis Community College, as she scored early and often in helping lead the Archers to a 77-59 victory.
Wilson took the action right at the six seed, Guilford Technical College, from the start and helped the Archers stake a commanding 24-9 lead after the first quarter. At halftime, STLCC took a 38-21 lead into the locker room, and just like the last two months of the season, the third quarter was separation time as they outscored the Titans 24-15 to lead by 26 heading into the final quarter.
Wilson collected another double-double on season, while finishing with 28 points and 13 rebounds. In all, four Lady Archers scored in double digits as Ellisha Davis scored 14 points while dishing out 4 assists, Erika Harvey scored 12 points off the bench, including 7 straight points early in the third quarter to help STLCC gain some breathing room, and Shamiah Oliver added 11 points.
The Lady Archers shot an impressive 54 percent from the field, while even more impressively, holding Guilford Tech to 29 percent from the field.
St. Louis Community College advances to face the number three seed, Monroe Community College, on Wednesday night at 6:00 pm, the winner advances to the NJCAA division 2 Final Four.
