STLCC Esports Secures Second National Championship Title
Benjamin “Rhewn” Barmak Wins Hearthstone National Championship
St. Louis Community College (STLCC) Esports has claimed its second national championship, marking another historic achievement for the program. On December 9, 2025, STLCC's own Benjamin Barmak—known in the competitive scene as Rhewn—captured the Hearthstone National Championship with a decisive 3-0 victory over Calhoun Community College. Barmak concluded the season with an impressive 10-1 record, showcasing skill, strategy, and resilience throughout the competition.
Barmak's journey to this championship is a testament to the flexibility and opportunities within STLCC's Esports program. Previously a member of the Overwatch team, Barmak initially considered stepping away from Esports due to time constraints. Instead, through collaboration and adaptability, the program worked with him to identify a title that fit his interests and schedule—leading to his remarkable success in Hearthstone.
"This championship reflects what STLCC Esports is all about: creating pathways for students to thrive both academically and competitively," said Coach Robert Cruz. "Ben's dedication and adaptability are inspiring, and his achievement demonstrates the value of supporting students in finding their niche."
Watching Barmak's strategic gameplay and insightful commentary throughout the season has been an incredible experience for teammates and fans alike. STLCC Esports looks forward to continuing this momentum and exploring what's next for the program and its talented players.
