The St. Louis Community College Archers delivered a statement performance over the weekend, upsetting No. 2 seed Jefferson College in a thrilling three-game series to advance to the NJCAA Region 16 Tournament. STLCC showcased resilience, offensive firepower, and clutch pitching in the series victory and will now travel to Joplin, Missouri (May 7–10) for regional play.
Game 1: Archers Explode Late in 16–11 Slugfest Victory
STLCC opened the series with a dramatic 16–11 win, highlighted by an eight-run eighth inning that broke the game open.
The Archers' offense was led by Luke Seiler, who delivered a monster performance with two home runs and six RBIs, igniting a lineup that produced 13 hits and drew eight walks. Nicholas Bonczkowski added a home run and drove in a run, while Jack Burle (3 hits), McKinley Floyd, and Tyler Tipton contributed in a balanced attack.
Despite Jefferson matching STLCC with 13 hits, the Archers capitalized on five Cavalier errors and timely hitting. On the mound, Renn Fiss earned the win in relief, while Mason Carroll helped close the door late.
Game 2: Jefferson Evens the Series, 13–5
Jefferson responded in Game 2, taking advantage of early momentum to secure a 13–5 win and force a decisive third game.
The Cavaliers scored six runs in the first inning and used patience at the plate—drawing 13 walks—to keep pressure on STLCC pitching.
Offensively, the Archers were led by McKinley Floyd, who launched a home run and drove in two runs, while Tyler Tipton went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate. Jack Burle and Drew Schulte also added RBIs.
Despite outhitting Jefferson 9–6, STLCC was unable to overcome the early deficit, setting the stage for a winner-take-all Game 3.
Game 3: Archers Win Extra-Inning Thriller, 9–8
In one of the most exciting games of the season, STLCC outlasted Jefferson 9–8 in 11 innings to clinch the series and complete the upset.
The Archers struck early, scoring in multiple innings to build leads, but Jefferson continued to battle back. Tied late, STLCC delivered the decisive run in the top of the 11th inning.
Jackson Reiter played the hero role, driving in three RBIs and delivering key hits, while McKinley Floyd added a home run and two RBIs. Jack Burle also contributed with two RBIs in the clutch.
On the mound, STLCC used a steady rotation of arms to secure the win. John Maness earned the victory with four strong relief innings, while Mason Mitchell closed out the game to record the save. The Archers' pitching staff combined for 12 strikeouts and held firm in the final frames to preserve the victory.
