STLCC Baseball Downs Lewis & Clark, 12–8
St. Louis Community College used a fast start at the plate and steady work from the bullpen to secure a 12–8 victory over Lewis & Clark Community College on Tuesday afternoon in St. Louis.
The Archers jumped in front early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first and adding two more in the second to build a 6–2 advantage. Lewis & Clark stayed within striking distance, plating runs in each of the first three innings before a five‑run fourth inning briefly swung momentum in the visitors' favor and gave them an 8–6 lead.
STLCC responded immediately in the bottom of the fourth. McKinley Floyd delivered the big swing of the night with a grand slam, finishing with four RBIs, as the Archers retook control. The offense added timely insurance in the sixth inning to push the lead to 12–8 and close out the contest.
Drew Schulte contributed a strong all‑around performance with two RBIs, while Lane Elder and Jackson Podmore each drove in a run. McKinley Floyd crossed the plate twice and added two walks, and STLCC showed aggressiveness on the base paths with eight stolen bases, highlighted by multi‑steal efforts from Jack Burle, Joseph Callas and Nathan Hayden.
On the mound, Riley Schulz earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two. Bennett Parker locked down the final frame to collect the save, retiring the side in order. Despite allowing early runs, the STLCC pitching staff limited Lewis & Clark to one run over the final three innings.
The Archers finished the afternoon with 12 runs on five hits and eight walks, overcoming early defensive miscues and sealing the non‑region win at home.
