Baseball Splits First Two Games Against Three Rivers
The STLCC baseball team spilt their first two games against Three Rivers College on Thursday, April 1.
Game 1
The Arches led the Raiders by a score of 5-2 after four innings before a seven run sixth inning led to a 12-2 win in game one. Key offensive performers in game one included Michell Davis (4 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Cesar Soto (3 hits), Darian Howard (2 hits, 2 RBI, 2 SB), Alex Adams (2B, 2 RBI), and Garrison Hibbs (2B, 2 RBI). Preston Salazar picked up his fifth win of the season, throwing five innings and allowing two runs, while striking out eight Three Rivers batters. Nicholas Garcia pitched a scoreless inning in the sixth, collecting three strikeouts.
Game 2
The Archers were unable to keep the Raiders off the scoreboard in game two. Three Rivers scored in each inning except the fifth, handing STLCC an 18-4 loss. Having big days at the plate in game two were Cesar Soto (2 hits, 2 RBI, SB), Boone Gartman (2 hits, HR, RBI), and Preston Salazar (RBI). Tyler Martin allowed six runs in three innings of work on the mound and took the loss in game two.
STLCC is currently 17-12 overall and 8-6 in Region 16 play. The Arches will wrap up their four-game series against Three Rivers on Saturday, April 3 in Poplar Bluff.
